The next Census in 2020 will require counting an increasingly diverse and growing population of around 330 million people in more than 140 million housing units. To get an accurate count, the Census Bureau must build an accurate address list of every housing unit, maximize self-response to the census, and efficiently follow up with those who do not respond.
What You Can Do
Your part in the census is as easy as taking 10 minutes to fill out your census form and mail it back. The 2020 census questionnaire is one of the shortest in history and consists of 10 questions. If you want to do more, volunteer to become a census partner and learn the basic facts about the census and encourage others to be counted. Many Iowa communities and diversity groups have formed 2020 census committees--join yours and help spread the word that a complete and accurate 2020 census in Iowa is in our hands.
