Our Privacy Statement

Any and all information collected at this site will be kept strictly confidential and will not be sold, reused, rented, loaned, or otherwise disclosed. Any information you give to the State Library of Iowa will be held with the utmost care, and will not be used in ways that you have not consented to. Resale or disclosure of information to third parties:

The State Library of Iowa does not sell, rent, loan, trade, or lease any personal information collected at our site, including feedback forms, reference question forms, or registration forms.


Browser information collected on the website:

The State Library of Iowa analyzes our web site's logs to constantly improve the value of the materials available on our web site. Our web site's log entries are not personally identifiable for those parts of the site that are open to the general public. We make no attempt to link these log entries with the individuals that actually browse the site.

Some parts of the site require a login name and password for access including the SILO interlibrary loan application. Our web site's logs for these areas may include personally identifiable information. Statistics for these applications are always reported in aggregate form. Reports may be summarized by library type, library size, library service area, or other metric.


Use of cookies:

The State Library of Iowa may use temporary cookies in specific parts of the site. These cookies are used to allow your web browser to report your progress through processes that require multiple pages to complete. Examples may include registrations forms, database searches, and interlibrary loan transactions. Temporary cookies are deleted when you exit your web browser.

The State Library of Iowa will not store permanent cookies in your web browser without your consent.


Privacy of our e-mail lists:

The State Library of Iowa maintains several e-mail lists to keep the Iowa library community informed. We do not sell, rent, loan, trade, or lease the addresses on our list to anyone. In addition, we configure our list server software to refuse to divulge the e-mail addresses of our list subscribers to anyone but State Library staff, Library Service Area staff, and the list subscribers.
