Grants for Mentoring Children of Prisoners (MCIP)
Program Announcement
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has
announced the availability of financial assistance for the fiscal year
2003 Mentoring Children of Prisoners Program. The purpose of this
program is to make competitive grants to applicants in urban, suburban,
rural, and tribal populations with substantial numbers of children of
incarcerated parents and to support the establishment and operation of
programs to provide mentoring services for these children.

The Iowa Division of Criminal and Juvenile Justice Planning has prepared a table showing the number of Iowa prisoners with dependents (not necessarily children) and the number of dependents of Iowa prisoners. The table may be downloaded in Adobe Acrobat or Excel by clicking on .pdf or .xls now.
