Enterprise Zone Program
Eligibility
The enterprise zone program promotes new economic development in economically distressed areas by encouraging communities to target resources in ways that attract productive private investment.
- The Iowa Department of Economic Development certifies eligible enterprise zones
- The requirements for eligible enterprise zones are described in Iowa code Chapter 15E.191-196.
- The following files are available to help cities with a population of 24,000 or more identify census tracts or census block groups that meet the census-based requirements for enterprise zones:
- Census 2000 per capita income, family poverty rates, and vacancy rates for Iowa and its counties, census tracts, and block groups (.xls files)
- Census 2000 block maps by county (.pdf files)
