Group Quarters Address Update

Once again the State Library of Iowa needs your help!

The U.S. Census Bureau is preparing for the 2010 census by collecting the address of every building that is part of every nursing/skilled nursing facility, residential care facility, residential treatment center, group home, and in-patient hospice facility in Iowa. The purpose of this project is to help the Census Bureau accurately allocate the populations of these facilities to the correct census blocks. Although the number of people living in these facilities may be small compared to the overall population, they can have a great impact on the quality of the census overall, especially in smaller communities.  Therefore, it is very important that the 2010 Census have the most complete and accurate address list possible.

We are asking that you add the addresses of any other buildings that are part of your facility.  Specifically, we need the type of facility, the full name of the building without acronyms or abbreviations, the house/building number, street name, city, and ZIP code. Even if all of your mail is delivered to the administrative office, we need an address for the actual physical location of every building that is part of your facility.

Key to Type Codes:
201 – Group Home for Juveniles (Non-correctional)
202 – Residential Treatment Center for Juveniles (Non-correctional)
301 – Nursing/Skilled Nursing Facility
